Welcome to Tropikelle! My name is Elisa and I’m the founder and editor behind Tropikelle.
I’m a Spaniard who has been living in Singapore for over 2 years now, where I work full time as a marketer in charge of the Asia-Pacific region. In the meanwhile I dedicate my free to discover Asia and to this site, creating the content and doing all the photography and editing.
I love it!
What’s behind Tropikelle
Although I was always aware of the environmental problems that we are facing, it wasn’t until recently that I found out in detail what the fast fashion industry is doing to our planet. Compromising the environment as much as basic human rights.
I realized that the purchases that we make say a lot about who we are and what type of life we want to live. I am a firm believer that our purchasing choices affect the demand, and the demand affects the supply.
If you are a fashion and beauty junkie like me, I hope that this space will inspire you to move towards a more ethical way of living, taking one step at a time.
A good place to start is this post that will give you some basic tips to make better purchases for your wardrobe.
Where the name comes from
I’ve always had that wanderlust drive in me. I’ve traveled to over 30 countries in 4 continents and had wonderful experiences that have shaped the person that I am today. Tropikelle is influenced by those adventures and by my addiction to tropical beaches and warm weather, where the slow lifestyle and the love for nature is usually the norm.
( Also, a very close friend of mine calls me “Elle”, which I thought would add a more personal touch to the site) 🙂
These experiences have made me evolve and develop a special sensitivity to the waste problem that we are facing nowadays and how this affects my obsession with fashion, beauty and living a healthier lifestyle.
Thanks for stopping by!
