Tropikelle 2.0

Hey there, welcome to the start of the year of the dragon! What better time than now to finally sit down and pen this post.

I’ve been meaning to do it for ages, like a year and a half kind of ages, but life just kept getting in the way. Honestly, I wasn’t all that jazzed about it. I was feeling a bit uninspired and tired, you know? Sustainable fashion was on my mind, but I needed a breather from that narrative (let’s save that chat for another day). But hey, things are looking up now.

Over the past year, I’ve been putting in the work on myself—boosting my self-esteem, dialing up the confidence, and curating a positive environment. It’s been all about saying no to the stuff that drains me and a big fat yes to the good vibes.

2023 was a rollercoaster ride, no doubt about it. But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So, here’s the deal: I’m shifting gears a bit. Sustainable fashion is still part of my lifestyle, but I’m feeling a new passion bubbling up—hair care. Yep, you heard that right. It’s been a lifelong obsession that I’m ready to dive into.

I’ve been the designated hair guru among my crew for as long as I can remember. Even at work, folks are always hitting me up for advice and product recs. And you know what? I love it. There’s just something about taking care of my locks that gives me all the good feels.

But let me tell you, August 2022 threw me a curveball. I caught Dengue—a nasty desease you can get from a mosquito bite. It knocked me flat on my back, and when I thought it was all over, I was shedding hair like a golden retriever in summer. The diagnosis? Telogen Effluvium. Look it up if you’re curious. Long story short, my hair decided to bail on me in a big way. Add in the fact that my body was doing battle with a blood-related illness, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a rough time.

But hey, good news: hair grows back. Bad news: it takes a boatload of patience, resilience, and tender loving care.

I feel like I’ve earned myself a PhD in hair loss, growth, and scalp TLC. Scalp care wasn’t really on my radar before, but now I know it’s the secret sauce for healthy locks. I’ve done my fair share of reading, investigating and experimenting, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with you all. Who knows, maybe my journey can help someone else going through a similar situation. Stay tuned for more deets coming your way soon!

Besitos and gong xi fa cai!
